Prepare a small completed project so you can find, retrieve and use it later. Keep the editable project, the source files it needs and a finished export where each can be identified.
Prepare the project
Choose one project and keep its working copy in place.
Use the editing app's instructions to collect or copy the media and other files the project needs.
Save a finished export in a format you can open on the device where you plan to use it.
Add a note identifying the project version, export and required app version or plug-ins.
A project file can refer to media saved elsewhere. Copying that file alone may leave the media behind. For example, Ableton's project collection guide explains which files it collects and why plug-ins still need separate installation.
Store and retrieve a sample
Use the first-file guide to upload a small exported file and wait for the upload to finish.
Download the stored copy into a separate location on the device where you need it.
Open the retrieved export and check the expected picture, sound or pages.
If you also need an editable project, separately check its retrieved files in the required app. Record any missing media or plug-in.
Use the archive guide for the project's descriptions, separate copies and future review. Before changing local storage use, check whether the action affects a local copy, the stored file or both. Keep usable separate copies and ask Support if the effect is unclear.
If you need to send the file
Choose the export you want the other person to receive. Check the Send options and limits, and the Send access and file-safety guidance. If you choose to send a file, confirm that the recipient can download and open the intended file.
Sending an exported file does not give the recipient an editable project or establish shared editing. Keep the required project files and app requirements separate from the transfer.
Record the result
Record the file or project version, receiving device, app and result. If something is missing, keep the originals and resolve it before relying on the stored copy.
