File security covers who can access your files, whether their contents stay intact, and whether you can retrieve them when needed. Privacy covers how personal information is collected, used and shared. Review both before relying on a storage or transfer setup.
Review one file and its copies
Choose a file you rely on. Keep its working original and any device where it still opens. You can review your setup without signing out, resetting an account or changing a passphrase.
Identify who should be able to open the file and which devices can access it. Check the devices' screen locks and supported software updates.
Use the encryption and access guide to identify your sign-in method and any enabled Store encryption passphrase. Check privately where the credential record is kept; keep secrets out of your review notes.
Open a known copy and check that the contents match the version you expected. Use the backup test guide to retrieve a separate saved copy without replacing the original.
Identify the personal information in the file and who needs it. If you plan to share it, remove unnecessary details from a separate copy.
If you need a particular storage country, retention period or access arrangement, read the service terms or agreement. Keep an unanswered requirement open and ask Hivenet Support before relying on an assumption.
Record the date, copy locations, content-check result and any issue. For each issue, choose a next action and who will handle it.
Compare security and privacy in a hypothetical transfer
Imagine sending a document with your contact details to one person. The security check is whether the intended recipient can access it and how you protect the link and any transfer password. The privacy check is which details that person needs and how you expect them to use the document.
A link can reach the wrong person even when the transfer is encrypted. The intended recipient can also use the document in an unexpected way. Encryption alone does not settle either choice.
Choose a sample document and name the intended recipient in your private notes.
List the details they need and any you would leave out.
Review the Send access guide and record how you would handle the link and any transfer password. You can complete this exercise without sending anything.
Use the result
Follow the privacy guide for website choices, privacy requests and account-retention notices. Use the shared-responsibility guide to separate your next actions from Hivenet's service obligations. One usable copy does not prove that every file can be recovered.
If an enabled passphrase is missing, preserve working access and follow the lost-passphrase guide. Report unexpected account activity or an unexplained file problem to Hivenet Support, without including credentials or private file contents. For Compute workloads, use Hivenet Docs.
