Compare storage options for your files

Compare practical requirements, current costs and usable file access before choosing or changing a storage service.

Written by Thanasis Karavasilis

Compare storage options against the files, devices and tasks you need to support. A useful choice should let you store, retrieve and use those files under terms you understand.

Store is Hivenet's service for everyday files and photos. Send is for file delivery by link, and Compute is for running workloads. Start with the product that fits the job.

What to confirm

Store starting point

Devices and software

Support for your operating system and the apps needed to open the files.

Space and file limits

Enough account and device capacity for your files, plus the applicable single-file limit.

Check your account's storage details. Ask Hivenet Support to confirm any file-size requirement.

Access and recovery

How to retrieve a usable copy and what happens if a credential is lost.

Privacy and location

How service data is handled and whether your specific location or retention requirement is supported.

Total cost

The current plan, billing period, currency, tax and any extra charges that apply.

Keeping usable copies

Whether the exported or downloaded files open in the apps you need, including project dependencies.

Try a small sample before changing services

  1. List the requirements you need and date the comparison. For a device or removable drive, record how you will keep a separate copy. For a cloud service, use that provider's current official information for its terms and limits.

  2. Keep your originals. For Store, use the Store getting-started guide with a small file you can recognize.

  3. Download a separate copy and open it in the app it needs. For a project or archive, check the required files as well as the main item.

  4. Record which requirements are met, which remain unanswered and whether the retrieved sample is usable.

A filename in a list or one file that opens does not prove that a complete photo library, project or account has moved successfully. Keep the original service and usable copies until you have checked what you need.

Ask Hivenet Support about unanswered Store requirements. Treat any contribution credit or discount as a separate eligibility question; do not include an assumed saving in the comparison.
