Check file size and storage before uploading to Store

Check file size, available Store storage and free device space, and get help if a large upload fails.

Before uploading a large file to Store, check the file's size, your available Store storage and the free space on your device. These are separate checks: unused space in your plan does not guarantee that every file will upload.

Check the file and available space

What to look for

File size

Check the size of the file on your device. If Store reports that it is too large, keep the original and follow the support steps below.

Available Store storage

Check how much unused storage your account has for the files you want to add.

Free device space

Check the free space on the phone or computer you will use. The app may need local space to read and process files.

Local space requirements depend on the app and operation. Do not assume that every upload needs another local copy equal to the size of all the files you selected.

Check a small upload first

  1. Follow Get started with Store with a small file. Keep its original.

  2. Wait for the upload to finish, then download a separate copy and open it.

  3. Check that the contents are complete and readable. Note the available Store storage, free device space and result of the check.

A successful small upload confirms that check; it does not guarantee that a larger file will upload. Keep the original of each file until its upload finishes and you have checked a downloaded copy.

If an upload cannot finish

Read the message to see whether it concerns the file, Store storage or device space. Keep a usable copy elsewhere before removing any files to make room.

If Store says the file is too large, do not keep retrying it unchanged. Contact Hivenet Support with the file size, app and operating system versions, and the exact message. For Store on the web, include the browser version.

Confirm the supported option before splitting the file or changing its format, especially if another app needs it to remain intact.

Store and Send are separate

This guide covers files you keep in Store. For a transfer link, check the Send plan guide.
