Use Store for files you work on regularly

Start with a small group of active files, check access on the devices you use and keep an independent copy.

Start with one project or a small group of files you work on regularly. Check that you can open the stored files on the devices you use, and keep an independent copy of important work.

Prepare the files

  1. Use the planning exercise to choose the files and record where their independent copies will stay.

  2. Choose a folder structure you can recognize, such as a project name or year. Keep the original files while you set up Store.

  3. Follow the first-file guide to upload a small group. Wait for the uploads to finish and check any errors.

Check working access

  1. On another device, sign in to the Store web app with the same account and look for the files. Keep the working originals while checking access.

  2. Download and open a separate copy of a file you recognize. Check its contents and expected version, then record the device and result.

  3. For files you need without a connection, save a separate downloaded copy in a location you can identify on that device. Open that copy in its required app without a network connection before relying on it. A file listing or preview does not establish offline access.

Add more files after the checks work. If a file is missing or inaccessible, keep the original and resolve the problem before changing where you keep your working copies.

Keep a separate backup

Accessing Store from a second device gives you access to the same account. Keep another copy that does not rely on that account, and check it after important changes.

Before freeing device space, preserve a separate usable copy and check what the proposed action changes in your app. Ask Hivenet Support if the effect on local and stored files is unclear. Do not move or delete a file as a shortcut.
