Current Send and older desktop sharing links

Choose a current Send route, recognize the older sharing service, and replace an old link that no longer works.

Written by Thanasis Karavasilis

You can create a current Send transfer from the Hivenet Mac app or in a browser. On Windows, use Send in the browser. Older desktop sharing links can belong to a separate legacy service.

Recognize the link

  • send.hivenet.com is the current Send service. Its links can come from web Send or the current Mac sending action.

  • share.hivenet.com belongs to the older sharing service. Follow the access information provided with that link.

The address alone does not tell you which app created the link or whether its files are still available. Keep the complete original address; changing the website name does not convert an older link into a current transfer.

Choose a current sending route

  • On a Mac, choose one file that has finished syncing in My Disk. Control-click it and select Send with Hivenet. Wait for the transfer link to be generated, then copy it. If the action is unavailable or fails, use Send in your browser or follow Send troubleshooting.

  • On Windows, or for the browser's multiple-file and password options on a Mac, open Send in your browser. Add your files and follow the email verification and transfer options shown there.

The current Mac action does not offer multiple-file or folder selection, a transfer password or an email-recipient form. Keep your originals until the recipient has downloaded and opened the expected files.

Mac and browser transfers use the same Send allowance for your account. Check Send plans and limits.

Understand what the recipient gets

Send transfers the selected file version. It does not give the recipient continuing access to your Store folder, and later edits do not update that transfer. To send changed files, create a new transfer from the updated files and share its new link. Creating a replacement does not revoke an earlier link.

If an older link no longer works

  1. Ask the sender to check the original link and any deadline or password supplied with it.

  2. If it remains unavailable, ask for a new transfer from a file the sender can still open.

  3. Keep any working copy until the recipient has downloaded and checked the replacement.

Do not apply current Send expiry rules to an older link without checking its original terms. For an unexpected legacy-link error, contact Hivenet Support. Include the message and the desktop app version used to create the link, if known.
