Every file you send with Hivenet stays online for 7 days. After that, the link will automatically expire, and the file is no longer accessible; not even by you.
No account required to send
Files are encrypted and stored temporarily
After 7 days, the chunks are deleted from the network
Can I extend the expiry date?
Not yet. All transfers expire after 7 days, even if you’re on a paid plan.
We’re working on flexible expiry options for future versions — but for now, the 7-day limit applies to everyone.
What happens after expiry?
Once a transfer expires:
The download link stops working
The file is fully deleted from Hivenet’s network (we don’t keep a backup)
Recipients will see an error if they try to access the link
You’ll need to re-upload the file if you want to share it again
Why 7 days?
We designed Send to be fast, lightweight, and ephemeral. Most users download files within a day or two. Keeping transfers short helps:
Keep the network efficient
Improve privacy
Reduce unnecessary energy usage
Tip: use our cloud storage for longer-term access. Files saved there won’t expire, and you can share them again at any time without re-uploading.
