This article covers the older desktop right-click sharing flow that some users may still see.

Note: This article describes an older desktop sharing flow that is being phased out. To send files with Hivenet today, use Send with Hivenet in your browser.

Your device’s built-in sharing options still work separately, but they are not the same as Send with Hivenet.

For the browser-based service that works with any file on your device, see How can I transfer a file?

What you’ll need

  • The Hivenet desktop app installed and signed in

  • A file already inside your Hivenet folder

If you do not see Send with Hivenet when you right-click the file, use Send with Hivenet in your browser instead.

Share a file from the desktop app

  1. Open your Hivenet folder in Finder or File Explorer.

  2. Find the file you want to share.

  3. Right-click the file and select Send with Hivenet, if the option is available.

  4. Copy the link from the dialog.

  5. If the option is available, protect the link before sharing it.

  6. Send the link to your recipient.

Your recipient can open the link in a browser and download the file.

Important

  • This older desktop flow creates links starting with share.hivenet.com.

  • These links expire after 7 days.

  • If you want the current supported Hivenet sending flow, use Send with Hivenet in your browser instead.

  • Your device’s built-in share menu is separate from Hivenet Send.
