Store lets you access uploaded files from the web app, the desktop apps, and the mobile apps. Use the same Hivenet account on each device. A file must finish uploading before you can rely on it being available elsewhere.
Choose where to use Store
Platform | How you use it |
Web | Open Store in the web app. Use All files, Photos or Trash to find the item you need. |
macOS | Use the Hivenet folder in Finder. The desktop app shows upload and download progress and files with issues. |
Windows | Use the Hivenet folder in File Explorer. The desktop app shows upload and download progress and files with issues. |
iPhone and iPad | Use the mobile app to access and upload files. Photo Backup handles the photos and videos included in your backup. |
Android | Use the mobile app to access and upload files. Photo Backup handles the photos and videos included in your backup. |
On a computer, use the folder shortcut in Hivenet, labeled Hivenet folder or Open Hivenet folder, to open Finder on macOS or File Explorer on Windows. In Finder, open My Disk. Check Syncing and Issues in the desktop app for progress or errors.
Get the current apps from the downloads page and check the supported operating systems.
Store in the web app and the current desktop apps requires a Protocol V2 account. If you see a conversion message, read Before you convert to Protocol V2 before continuing. Save and open copies of files you want to keep before changing your account.
Check one file on another device
Choose one small file and keep its original. If it is not yet in Store, follow the first-file guide. Wait for the upload to finish and check any error before continuing.
On another supported device, open Hivenet with the same account email and find the file in the corresponding folder.
Download a copy on the second device. Save it separately from any original, open it and check that the contents are complete.
Check the downloaded contents, not just the filename or preview. Keep the original if the file is missing or will not open on the second device.
If the file is missing, follow the checks for files missing across devices. If it appears but will not open or download, follow file-access troubleshooting.
Understand local downloads
A downloaded file uses space on your device. An online-only file is stored in your account and needs an internet connection to download. Seeing a filename or photo thumbnail does not confirm that you have a complete local copy.
To free space on a computer while keeping a file in Store, use the local-download controls for macOS or Windows. Do not use Delete or move a file out of the Hivenet folder as a substitute.
Use Photo Backup separately from desktop sync
Installing Hivenet on a phone or tablet does not upload every file on that device. Add general files to Store and check their upload status. Photo Backup is a separate feature with its own setup and progress.
Photo Backup uploads photos and videos from your phone or tablet. Check its progress before relying on a backup. A photo still waiting to upload is not a completed backup.
Before deleting a photo, check whether you are removing its Hivenet backup or an original saved on the device. Do not assume both copies exist.
Delete a stored file
Deleting a stored file is different from removing a local download. Follow the Store deletion and Trash instructions to see what each action does and how to attempt a restore.
