Delete and restore Store files

Move files to Trash, try restoring available items, or permanently delete selected files in Store on the web.

In Store on the web, move a file to Trash to remove it from your active files. Use the restore option if you want to return an item that is still available in Trash to your files. Delete permanently removes it from Trash and cannot be undone through Store.

If you only want to free space on your computer, use the downloaded and online-only file guide. Deleting from the Hivenet folder can affect the stored file as well as the copy on that computer.

Save a separate copy outside Hivenet first if you may need the file later. If the web app asks you to convert your account, do not convert to reach deletion controls. Read Before you convert to Protocol V2 and contact Support about previous-version files.

Move a file to Trash

  1. Open the Hivenet web app and select Store.

  2. In All files, find the file and open its three-dot menu.

  3. Select Move to Trash.

  4. Check the item named in the confirmation, then confirm Move to Trash.

  5. Open Trash and check that the item appears there.

If the action fails or the file returns to All files, note the message and contact Hivenet Support instead of repeatedly deleting it.

Restore an available file

  1. In Store, open Trash.

  2. Select the item you want to restore.

  3. Choose Restore to All files from the selected-item controls.

  4. Open All files, find the restored item, then download and open it to check its contents.

Restore files you need as soon as possible. Keep a separate backup of important files. If restoration fails, keep any separate copy and contact Hivenet Support with the error.

Delete selected files permanently

Permanent deletion cannot be undone through Store. Check that you have any separate copy you need before continuing.

  1. Open Trash and select only the items you want to remove.

  2. Select the trash-can button in the toolbar for the selected items.

  3. In Delete items permanently?, check the number of items. Select Cancel if it does not match your intended selection.

  4. Select Delete permanently to confirm.

Check that the selected items have left Trash. Deleting them in Store does not erase copies already saved outside Hivenet.

If you use a desktop or mobile app

  • Hivenet Trash, macOS Trash and Windows Recycle Bin are separate places. Do not assume that an action in one has the same effect as an action in another.

  • On a phone or tablet, read the confirmation before deleting a Photo Backup item. A stored backup and an original on your device are separate copies, and that original may no longer be on the device.

If you are unsure what a delete action removes, stop and contact Hivenet Support.
