Hivenet closes when I open it on Mac

Check whether Hivenet has quit or only its window has closed, and collect useful details for Support.

Written by Thanasis Karavasilis

If the Hivenet window closes when you open it, check whether the app is still running. Keep any working session and file copies while you investigate.

Check what closes

  1. Open Hivenet from Applications in Finder.

  2. Check the menu bar for Hivenet. If the icon is present, select it and note whether it responds or shows an error.

  3. Open Activity Monitor, choose View > All Processes, and search for Hivenet. Note whether a matching process stays listed, disappears, or shows Not Responding. You do not need to quit a process for this check.

Record whether only the window closes or the app also disappears from Activity Monitor. A listed process does not prove that the app is working, but this detail helps Support identify the problem.

Check the app and connection

  • Compare your installation with the official app downloads page. If an older app is your only way to reach files, contact Support before replacing it.

  • Open a website to check internet access. If you already use Store in the web app, note whether that same account still opens there. You do not need to convert an account for this check.

  • On a work or school device, ask the administrator to check any reported network or security restriction. If you already noticed a difference on another network, include it in your report.

A working website or a difference between networks does not identify the cause of the launch problem. Keep the exact error message for Support and your administrator.

Contact Support with the result

  • Include your macOS version, Mac model and Hivenet app version, if you can find it.

  • Describe what happens to the window, menu-bar icon and Activity Monitor entry, and whether Hivenet appears in Finder.

  • Include the exact error and when it started, especially after an app update or account change. Hide personal details in screenshots.

  • If Support asks for logs, ask for instructions for your app version. Leave any full debug logging option off unless Support asks you to turn it on.

If Hivenet closes before you can open Support or find the version, say so in your Support request. Send the details you have; a diagnostic file is not required to report the problem.

Do not sign out, delete app data, uninstall Hivenet, or disable security tools and certificate checks as a first step. These changes can interrupt access you still have.
