Why this happens
The Hivenet desktop app has two parts:
The main app, which handles things like login and settings
CloudBridge, which mounts your Hivenet storage as a virtual drive
On macOS 11 (Big Sur) and earlier, CloudBridge can’t run. That’s because it depends on newer system features—like Apple’s File Provider framework and macFUSE updates—that only exist in macOS 12+.
What works (and what doesn’t) on older macOS versions
✅ Works | ❌ Doesn’t work |
Sign in to the app | See your Hivenet drive in Finder |
Contribute storage or compute | Upload, download, or sync files |
Earn rewards by contributing | Use Store with Hivenet from the desktop |
You’re not doing anything wrong—the virtual drive simply won’t appear on macOS 11 or below.
What you’ll need to fix it
To access files on your Mac:
Upgrade to macOS 12 Monterey or later (macOS 15 will be required in the near future)
Restart the app after updating
Tip: If you can’t update your macOS just yet, you can still use Hivenet’s mobile apps to upload and manage files.
Heads-up about future updates
Later this year, we’ll be raising the minimum version to macOS 15 to support upcoming CloudBridge changes. We’ll keep you posted well in advance.
