How does Hivenet handle privacy and data retention?

We don’t track your files, scan your data, or keep anything longer than needed.

What we do keep

Just the bare minimum and only for as long as it takes to deliver your file.

Specifically:

  • The encrypted chunks of your file — stored temporarily for 7 days

  • A record of the file’s expiration date

  • Your verification email (only to manage your session)

  • Technical logs (briefly, for troubleshooting or abuse prevention)

We don’t tie any of this to a personal profile unless you’re signed in to a Hivenet account.

What we don’t collect

  • ❌ File names or contents

  • ❌ Email addresses of people you share the link with

  • ❌ IP addresses tied to your file

  • ❌ Transfer history or download tracking

  • ❌ Ads, analytics, or third-party cookies

Send is intentionally simple and private — no dashboards, no tracking, no weird metadata hanging around after you’ve finished.

How long is data stored?

  • Files: 7 days, then automatically deleted

  • Verification emails: temporary — reset after logout or session expiration

  • Transfer logs: purged regularly (used only to keep the service running smoothly)

GDPR, CCPA, and global compliance

Hivenet is built with privacy in mind — by default, not as an add-on. We comply with key global standards, including:

  • GDPR (Europe)

  • CCPA (California)

  • Swiss and UK data laws

Because your files are encrypted, distributed, and short-lived, we avoid most common risks associated with centralized cloud storage.
