If your Hivenet account is still on the previous version and you open Store in the web app, you may see two options:
Convert to Protocol V2
Create a Protocol V2 account
These options do different things. Before you continue, make sure you understand which one fits your situation.
Choose carefully
This choice affects which account you keep using, which email address you use, and what happens to data from the previous version.
If you are not sure, stop and contact Hivenet Support before continuing.
Option 1: Convert your current account to Protocol V2
Choose Convert to Protocol V2 if you want to keep using your current account.
When you convert your current account:
you keep the same account
you keep the same email address
you keep the same password
you keep the same plan
your account moves to Protocol V2
This is usually the right option if you want to continue with the same account going forward.
Important before you convert
Before converting, download any files you want to keep.
For users on the previous version, the only supported way to download files before conversion is through the mobile app.
Some users may still be able to access files through the deprecated Windows app, but that app is no longer supported and should not be relied on as the standard path.
After conversion, data from the previous version does not carry over and cannot be accessed afterward, including by Hivenet.
Option 2: Create a separate Protocol V2 account
Choose Create a Protocol V2 account if you do not want to change your current account and prefer to create a separate new one instead.
When you create a separate Protocol V2 account:
your current account stays unchanged
your current account remains on the previous version
you create a new Protocol V2 account
you must use a different email address for the new account
This can make sense if you want to leave your current account as it is and start separately on Protocol V2.
Which option should I choose?
Choose Convert to Protocol V2 if:
you want to keep using the same account
you want to keep the same email address
you want to keep the same password
you want to keep the same plan
you are ready to move that account to Protocol V2
Choose Create a Protocol V2 account if:
you want to leave your current account unchanged
you want to create a separate new account on Protocol V2
you are able to use a different email address for the new account
Questions to ask yourself first
Before you decide, ask yourself:
Do I want to keep using my current account?
Do I need to keep the same email address on the account I use going forward?
Have I downloaded any files I want to keep from the previous version?
Am I trying to continue with one account, or start fresh with a separate one?
If you are unsure about any of these, stop and contact Hivenet Support before continuing.
Common mistakes to avoid
A few mistakes are easy to make here.
Do not choose Create a Protocol V2 account if you meant to keep using your current account.
Do not choose Convert this account to Protocol V2 until you have downloaded any files you want to keep from the previous version.
Do not continue if you are unsure which account is signed in to the web app.
What happens after each option
If you convert your current account:
that account moves to Protocol V2
Store in the web app can work with that account
supported Protocol V2 desktop apps can work with that account
data from the previous version does not appear in the converted account
If you create a separate Protocol V2 account:
your original account stays as it is
your new account starts separately on Protocol V2
you use a different email address for the new account
your original account and your new account are not the same account
If you chose the wrong option
If you picked the wrong option in the web app, stop and contact Hivenet Support before making more changes.
This is especially important if:
you created a new Protocol V2 account when you meant to convert your current one
you converted the wrong account
you are no longer sure which account you should use
