How to convert your account to Protocol V2 in the web app

Use the web app to convert your current account to Protocol V2 and keep the same email, password, and plan.

You can only convert your Hivenet account to Protocol V2 in the web app.

If your account is still on the previous version and you try to use Store in the browser, Hivenet may show you a screen with options for how to continue. From there, you can convert your current account to Protocol V2 or create a separate Protocol V2 account with a different email address.

This article covers how to convert your current account.

Before you start

Do not begin the conversion until you have done these things:

  1. Download any files you want to keep from your current account.

  2. Sign out of Hivenet on your other devices and apps.

  3. Make sure you want to convert this account, not create a separate new one.

This matters because after conversion, data from the previous version does not carry over and cannot be accessed afterward, including by Hivenet.

What happens when you convert

When you convert your current account to Protocol V2:

  • you keep the same account

  • you keep the same email address

  • you keep the same password

  • you keep the same plan

At the same time:

  • your account moves to Protocol V2

  • Store in the web app can work with that account

  • the new desktop apps can work with that account

  • data from the previous version does not carry over

  • data from the previous version cannot be accessed afterward

Convert your account in the web app

Follow these steps to convert your account.

  1. Sign in to the Hivenet web app with your current account.

  2. Open Store in the web app.

  3. If your account is still on the previous version, review the screen that explains your options.

  4. Select Convert to Protocol V2.

  5. Read the warning message carefully.

  6. Confirm that you understand what will change.

  7. Continue with the conversion.

After the conversion is complete, your account will use Protocol V2.

If you see two options

The web app may show you two choices:

  • Convert to Protocol V2

  • Create a Protocol V2 account

Choose Convert to Protocol V2 if you want to keep using the same account, email address, password, and plan.

Choose Create a Protocol V2 account only if you want to leave your current account unchanged and create a new Protocol V2 account with a different email address.

If you are not sure which option is right for you, stop and contact Hivenet Support before continuing.

What to expect after conversion

After you convert:

  • your account uses Protocol V2

  • you may be asked to sign in again on your devices and apps

  • you can use Store in the web app with that account

  • you can use supported Protocol V2 apps with that account

Your old data does not appear in Protocol V2 after conversion. If you did not download files before converting, you will not be able to access them afterward.

If the conversion does not complete

If something goes wrong during conversion, do not keep retrying without checking what happened first.

Contact Hivenet Support if:

  • the conversion fails

  • you are not sure whether the conversion finished

  • you cannot sign in afterward

  • you expected to see files from the previous version

  • you think you converted the wrong account
