Review one folder at a time. Choose names that help you find files and decide where new files belong, then check a small change before reorganizing more.
Choose a useful change
Pick a folder you use and a file you often need inside it.
Check whether the folder name tells you its purpose. Use a project, subject or time period that you recognize.
Choose a clearer name if needed. For example, Research notes 2026 is more specific than Misc.
Keep a separate usable copy of important files before reorganizing them. If a folder belongs to an app or contains linked project files, follow that app's instructions before renaming it; links and saved locations may depend on the name.
Rename a folder on the web
For this check, use an ordinary folder you created in Store. Leave folders created or managed by an app, including Photo Backup, unchanged.
Open Hivenet on the web, choose Store, and find the folder in All files.
Open the folder's three-dot menu and select Rename.
Enter the new folder name, then select Rename to confirm. Select Cancel if you want to keep the current name.
Check that the new name appears. Open the folder and a file inside it to confirm that you can still find and use its contents.
If the name is already used at that location, choose a different name. If renaming fails, keep the folder and its copies in place and contact Hivenet Support with the action and error.
Record what changed
Write down the old and new names and any shortcut, project reference or backup selection that needs checking. Confirm those still point to the intended files, and record whether the file you chose still opens.
