How does file syncing differs on desktop vs mobile?

What’s local? What’s online-only? Here’s how it works by default.

By default:

  • Desktop apps (Mac & Windows) keep files locally available once uploaded. You can open them without internet access. If you log out, though, local files will become inaccessible until you sign in again.

  • Mobile apps (iOS & Android) treat files as online-only by default. This helps save space on your phone or tablet. You can still download files manually if you want to keep them offline.

This system is designed to balance storage and speed across devices.
