Sometimes the Hivenet app on macOS seems to start, then immediately closes. You’ll see the dock icon appear for a second, then vanish. In the menu bar, the Hivenet icon may still be visible but only shows an Exit option. No drive or location appears in Finder.
This isn’t usually a problem with your Mac. In most cases, it happens because company network tools like Zscaler or other SSL inspection services block the app’s sign-in process.
Quick checks
Try launching the app on a different network (home Wi-Fi or mobile hotspot).
In Activity Monitor, search for “Hivenet” to confirm the app starts and then quits.
If it works fine outside your company network, the issue is almost certainly network inspection.
How to fix it
Employees: Contact your IT team and let them know the app may be blocked by SSL inspection. Share the information below with them.
IT administrators: Add an exception for Hivenet services so they bypass SSL inspection and proxies. The app requires outbound HTTPS (443) and WebSocket-over-HTTPS to connect.
Still stuck?
If bypassing inspection doesn’t help, temporarily disable inspection for one user to test. If the app works, you’ll know inspection is the root cause. For further help, contact us at [email protected] with your logs.
