Why did my link expire early?

Understanding how Send links work and what you can do if your file isn’t accessible.

Every link created with Send stays active for 7 days. After that, it expires automatically and the file is permanently deleted from the Hivenet network.

Reasons a link might appear to expire sooner

You’re trying to access an old link

  • If the link was created more than 7 days ago, it’s expired even if you never downloaded the file.

The file was never fully uploaded

  • If the upload was interrupted or canceled, the link won’t work. Try re-uploading the file.

The sender deleted the file

  • Currently, there’s no option to manually delete a transfer before 7 days. If the file seems missing, check with the sender. They may have re-uploaded and given you a new link.

Network or browser issues

  • Sometimes a network glitch or aggressive browser cache may cause the download page to show as “expired.” Refresh the page or try again with a different browser.

What you can do

  • Ask the sender to upload the file again.

    • If you’re the sender, just start a new transfer and share the new link.

  • Double-check the link for typos or spaces.

  • Make sure you’re online.

    • Some errors are simply connection hiccups.

Can I extend or recover an expired link?

Not at this time. For privacy and security, expired transfers are permanently deleted from the network. You’ll need to upload the file again to share it.
