The Hivenet agent uses various methods to establish a connection, including UPnP and static port forwarding. If the agent detects stricter NAT configurations, it will attempt different methods.
The Hivenet agent uses the following ports:
| Port | Protocol | Used for |
| 4443 | TCP | Control Plane |
| 4001 | TCP | Data Plane |
Steps to troubleshoot
Check the local network connection
- Verify that the machine hosting the Hivenet agent has an active and stable internet connection.
Verify agent status
- Ensure the Hivenet agent service is running without errors.
Check the UPnP status on the router
- If UPnP is disabled or unavailable, the Hivenet agent may fail to establish connectivity.
Static port forwarding
- Forward ports 4001 and 4443 from your router to the machine hosting the Hivenet agent. - Log in to your router's admin panel.
- Locate the "Port Forwarding" section.
- Add a new entry: Forward TCP ports 4001 and 4443 to your machine's local IP.
- Save changes and restart the router if you need to.

Check firewall rules
- Ensure your firewall allows incoming and outgoing connections on TCP ports 4001 and 4443.
Test connection
- Use networking tools like Netstat or Telnet to verify that the ports are accessible outside your network.
Check Logs
- Inspect Hivenet agent logs for any error messages or warnings related to networking.
Please consult the Hivenet documentation or contact technical support for advanced configurations or persistent issues.
